?: What do I do if a bracket, or band becomes loose?
A: If it is irritating you, apply wax or remove the bracket or band. Leave the bracket or band on the wire if it is not irritating you. In either case, contact our office as soon as possible to have it repaired

?: What do I do if I have a wire poking?
A: You can try to clip it with small, sterilized wire cutters, manicure scissors, or apply wax for comfort until you can come in and have it repaired.

?: What do I do if my appliance becomes loose?
A: Try to leave the appliance in place and call as soon as possible to have it recemented. If the appliance will not stay in place, bring it with you to the repair appointment.

?: Can I still play an instrument with braces or an appliance?
A: Yes, you can continue to play band instruments. In the beginning you may need to use wax to cover your front teeth for reed instruments.

?: Do I still have to see my general dentist?
A: You will need to continue to see your dentist for cleanings and checkups whenever they indicate they feel you should be seen.

?: What do I do if I have a sore spot in my mouth?
A: When you first get an appliance or braces a sore spot can occur. Use wax to cover the part of the braces or appliance that is irritating you. In most cases, soreness will subside in 2-3 days. If the sore spot becomes white or swollen, you should contact our office as soon as possible to have it checked.

?: What do I do if my gums become swollen or tender?
A: Gums can become swollen or tender for many reasons. Inadequate brushing and over exposure to air is just a couple of reasons. If your gums continue to be swollen or tender over an extended period of time, tell Dr. Cramer at your next visit.
